Why is trout fishing in America so popular anyway? Why do so many people want to be a part of this great class of trout fishermen? One reason why trout fishing in America is so popular is because of the challenge of trout fishing. There is often more challenge involved in trout fishing because trout are particular about what they like to eat and are not as easy to catch as many other fish.
America, and all of the North American continent, has many great lakes and streams for fishing for trout fishing. This is another reason why this type of fishing is so popular. There are even people who enjoy trout fishing so much that they spend the entire season traveling from one great trout fishing location to another trout fishing location. What you may not know is that there are also many different species of trout which can be found throughout America in the many different lakes, rivers and streams.
There are many different trout fishing techniques and which trout fishing techniques you use will depend on your situation and your preferences. The thing about trout that is different from other types of fish is that trout tend to be very particular about what they like and when. One day trout may enjoy a certain type or color of trout fishing bait and ignore it the next day. However, coming prepared with several different types of trout fishing lures and trout fishing bait can help remedy this if you encounter picky trout.
The basic trout fishing techniques are:
Drift Fishing
Drift fishing, as the name suggests, involves dropping your line and hook with bait for trout fishing upstream into the water where the trout are located and allowing it to naturally drift down and wait for a bite. It may be used with different types of trout fishing bait and with or without a floater or bobber.
Float Fishing
Float fishing is along the same lines of drift fishing except specifically with a floater or bobber.
Jig Fishing
Jig fishing involves using a type of lure called a "jig." There are many types of jigs to choose from in different shapes and sizes so you can experiment with different ones to find one that your trout like.
Tight Lining
Tight lining is meant to be used only in more shallow water and involves bottom fishing or dropping the line directly in where you can see the trout and pulling the line taunt to get the slack out. Watch carefully for a bite.
