Typical Fishing and Casting Lures

Along with the evolution of fishing gear and fishing accessories has come the development of various fishing lures used specifically for different fish species. There are many types or classes of fishing lures and they all relate to what type of fish they work for. Many fishing lures only work for specific types of fishing, but some fishing lures work for a wide range of species of fish. Here are some of the typical fishing lures.

Light Standard Casting Lures

Light standard casting lures are mostly able to attract a wide range of fish varieties from albacore, bluefish, bonita, oho and crappies. Light standard casting lures are also excellent for certain species of fish and can be used as bass fishing lures for certain species of bass. Light standard casting lures work best when retrieved from water at low to medium speed. Light standard casting lures pass through water with undetectably synthetic material.

Light standard casting lures range from 1/16 oz. to 3 oz. The sizes of light standard casting lures are excellent for lightweight fish and a host of freshwater species. Light standard casting lures can be used as bass fishing lures for smaller species of bass.

Heavy Standard Casting Lures

Perhaps the most popular among the fishing lures are the long tapered jigging lures. Long casting jigging lures are perhaps the most commonly used fishing lures among the fishermen in Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Just recently it was found out that the long casting lures work best for catching trout and and are good fishing lures for pike. Long casting lures were also found to be effective fishing lures to catch stripers and bluefish. Long casting lures are also effective fishing lures for walleye and tuna.

Unlike heavy standard lures, long casting lures won't produce good results up to 180-200 feet under water. Match color of your long casting lures, bait and related accessories to maximize performance.

Diamond Lures

Diamond lures are one of the smallest types of fishing lures with sizes ranging from 1/8 to 1 oz. Diamond lures can attract attention among fish and could form a school of fish in a minute. The reason diamond lures can attract attention among fish lies on its structural surface formation and cut. The top handle of diamond lures is cut like a diamond and causes the reflection of light striking on its surface. Diamond lures are best used as fishing lures for bass fish varieties, crappie and stripers although diamond lures work on a small range of fish species.
